AMVETS Events

Our Annual National Convention

The National Convention is where AMVETS leaders and members will be given a chance to shape the future of our great organization. From electing new leaders to voting on resolutions that set the foundation of AMVETS, the National Convention sets the stage for the coming year.

August 22 – 27, 2023, Pittsburgh, PA. Joint Opening

Ceremony will take place August 23rd.

The National Convention is the place to be to find out what is coming for the upcoming year at AMVETS.  Annual elections for the National Officers and District Officers will take place at the Convention.

The NEC will vote on changes to the AMVETS National Constitution and add Resolutions as voted on by that body.  During the Convention, all of the Committies and organizational entities will report on activities and the upcoming projects.

A myriad of training programs will be taking place throughout the entire period of the Convention allowing the participants to become familiar with the AMVETS system and grow in their ability to contribute to the aims and goals of AMVETS.

Post 38 Was Well Represented at AMVETS 76th National Convention

Post 38 was represented by Ron Everhart (Post Public Affairs Officer) and Ed Stracka (National Executive Committeeman {NEC}) and Department Judge Advocate).  Also representing the WV Dept was Department Commander Mike Barrett.

Pat Kishman represented Post 17, Terra Alta, WV.  To her left (Center) is Tim Chambers, “The Saluting Marine” who has appeared at Rolling Thunder and now at Rolling To Remember since 2002.  See his website at thesalutingmarine.com.

AMVETS Elects New National Officers for 2021-2022.

August 21, 2021.  AMVETS held elections for National Officers and Greg Heun (KY) was elected as the 2021-2022 National Commander.  The other positions were:

Past Post 38 Commander Elected to District II Vice Commander

Post 38 member Ed Stracka was elected as the 2021-2022 District II Vice Commander during the District meeting at the National Convention.

Ed has held the positions of : Commander, 1stVice Commander, Adjutant, Finance Officer and Judge Advocate in Post 38.  He currently performs volunteer duties for the Post.
